A series of smash-and-grab crimes throughout the past summer and autumn resulted in recent charges laid against four youths by police. Two businesses were targeted: Sarnia Drip, a downtown clothing store, and Tugboat Vape. Police say a substantial amount of stolen property was recovered and returned to the businesses following the investigation. The Sarnia Drip was targeted three times between July 13 and Sept. 11, while Tugboat Vape also faced three break and enters between Sept. 4 and Sept. 17. Each incident resulted in the suspects throwing an object through the window, entering the stores and leaving with stolen merchandise. On Oct. 3, Sarnia Police and Chatham Kent Police linked the crimes to similar incidents in the Chatham Kent area. Two youths were arrested and charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 in relation to break and enters at Sarnia Drip, and break and enter and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. The other two youths were arrested and charged with break and enter.
