Everything goes wrong in the right way for the latest comedy at the Grand Theatre

CTV London’s Nick Paparella brings a preview of the latest production of The Play That Goes Wrong at the Grand Theatre.

After being a smash hit on Broadway and the U.K., “The Play That Goes Wrong” is now on stage at the Grand Theatre in London.

It’s a non-stop and action filled comedy about a performing troupe from England called the Cornley Players.

They have arrived at the Grand to put on a murder mystery called, “The Murder at Haversham Manor.” However, in short order, things start going sideways.

“What you’re seeing is a murder mystery, but what you’re experiencing is everything falling apart and this troupe trying to hold it together,” said Dennis Garnhum, the director of the play and former Artistic Director at the Grand.

He says as the director, he has his work cut out for him.

“It’s very hard to look so bad and go so wrong so much, but as the director that’s my job to make it safe and make it fun.”

Even as audience members are trying to find their seats, cast members are already in character and buzzing around the theatre.

“I think the biggest celebration of the show is that the show does go on despite everything going wrong,” said Garnhum.

The play that goes horribly, hysterically and terribly wrong is on now at the Grand until November 2.
