An elderly man had to be rescued after he slipped down an embankment towards the Thames River on Friday. Emergency crews were called to the north bank of the river behind the Labatt Brewery around 2:30 p.m. The London Fire Department’s Technical Rescue Team loaded the man onto a basket and used ropes and a rescue device to haul the man up the steep embankment. The man didn’t enter the water, but was treated for a laceration to the head.
