A Grey County man has been charged after allegedly assaulting a player during a hockey game that took place last month. According to a news release, Grey Bruce OPP say that on March 21 in the Township of Southgate, a men’s recreational hockey tournament was underway at the local arena when, during one of the games, a player was assaulted on the ice. The victim sustained serious injuries because of the incident. On April 16 police arrested and charged a 26-year-old man from Southgate with aggravated assault. The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on July 9.
