‘Bitterly cold temperatures’ across the region, cold weather alert issued by MLHU

Julie Atchison has the latest forecast for the region.

Bitterly cold temperatures are gripping the area and we are about 10 degrees below where we typically are this time of year.

“The Middlesex London Health Unit has issued a cold weather alert for tonight as wind chills are forecast to drop to minus 20,” said CTV News London meteorologist Julie Atchison. “Flurries will be winding down as you head home for the day. We can even see some peaks of sunshine.”

Atchison goes on to say. the main snow has now moved eastward, “You can see still some snowfall in and around the Golden Horseshoe and still some lake- effect snow near [Lakes] Superior and Michigan.

“We’ll still have some snow squalls moving through, very isolated though parts of Grey and Bruce County late this afternoon and early tomorrow, and we are expecting a bit of sunshine Wednesday.”

“The next weather system comes in with a mild push of air, which will lead to rainfall and not snow,” said Atchison. “Flurries will follow and back down to minus five and then plus two on Saturday with a 40 per cent chance of a rain snow mix, mainly cloudy on Sunday.”

Monday Night: Cloudy. Wind southwest 20 km/h gusting to 40 becoming light near midnight. Low minus 14. Wind chill near minus 22.

Tuesday: Cloudy. Becoming a mix of sun and cloud in the afternoon. Wind becoming southwest 30 km/h gusting to 50 late in the morning. High minus 3. Wind chill minus 22 in the morning and minus 10 in the afternoon.

Wednesday: Cloudy with 40 per cent chance of flurries or rain showers. Windy. High plus 3.

Thursday: Periods of rain. Windy. High 6.

Friday: Flurries. High minus 5.
