An enormous 9,500-square-foot celebrity-owned mansion sitting on 3.18 acres has been listed for more than C$14 million in Bermuda. The beautiful property boasts a fruit orchard, herb gardens, tennis court, gated swimming pool.

“True Bermuda Charm!” the online listing claims.

Bermuda’s local newspaper, The Royal Gazette, reported Tuesday that movie stars Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas have owned the property for 15 years. The newspaper reported that Douglas and Zeta-Jones originally purchased it for approximately C$3.3 million. Architectural Digest published a feature story in 2002 describing the celebrity couple’s Bermuda retreat as “quintessentially English”.

The Rego Sotheby’s International Realty agent for the home, Lyndy Thatcher, confirmed to CTVNews.ca that the property located at 10 Longford Hill Road is for sale and directed interested parties to the agency’s website for the full listing.

“It’s a beautiful old Bermuda estate,” Thatcher said in a telephone interview from Hamilton, Bermuda.

The online listing states that the “spectacular, celebrity owned” historic estate includes eight bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a gourmet kitchen, a children’s suite and a music den. The upper floor has a large master suite overlooking the Hamilton Harbour and a second en suite bedroom.

The description also says the focal point of the property is the large “elegant yet informal” historic estate dating back to 1827.

The listing also describes a fully-equipped exercise room with a shower, locker room, bath and sauna facilities located in the basement level of the mansion. Prospective buyers will also be able to enjoy two 50 ft. cedar verandas to sit back and enjoy the ocean harbour view.

The property also includes a two-bedroom renovated guest cottage, a 100-year-old apartment and a separate two-bedroom caretaker’s cottage.

The Royal Gazette wrote that Douglas has family roots in Bermuda. His mother, Diana Dill, was a Bermudian who became an actor and model in the United States. A travel adviser who lives in Bermuda, Brenda Warwick, told CTVNews.ca that the celebrity pair is well known on the tropical island.

“Everybody who lives here knows where it (the home) is,” Warwick said in a telephone interview from Warwick, Bermuda.
