Shotgun, bear spray found after man runs from Guelph Police

Guelph Police are investigating an incident where a gun and bear spray were found on Thursday.

Officers were patrolling on Woolwich Street near Speedvale Avenue around 4:15 a.m. when they saw a man walking on the sidewalk. The man had been wearing a red jacket as well as a red backpack. When he spotted police, he ran away into nearby backyards.

After officers decided to check the area, they found a red backpack. It held an unloaded shotgun and a can of bear spray inside.

Police did not give further details about the man involved.
