A 40-year-old man from Guelph is facing charges after police said he hit a parked car in the city’s east end. A witness called police around 9:15 p.m. Saturday and said they had seen the collision. When officers tracked down the driver, they said it appeared he was impaired by drugs. The driver was taken to a police station where he was evaluated by a drug recognition expert. During the arrest, officers said they found suspected fentanyl and cocaine, drug paraphernalia and a passport that was reportedly stolen in March 2025. The man was charged with impaired operation of a vehicle, dangerous driving, possession of stolen property under $5,000, two counts of possessing a controlled substance, driving without insurance and driving without a currently validated permit. His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for seven days.
