A Guelph man was arrested after he tried to steal a cart full of groceries. Guelph Police said the theft happened Friday afternoon at an unnamed store near Eramosa Road and Stevenson Street. When the man left without paying, two employees tried to stop him. Police said they backed off when the man threatened them. “The man was located by police a short distance away,” a media release said. “He became verbally aggressive and threatening to officers and reached into his pocket implying he had a weapon. He physically struggled with officers trying to gain control before he was finally placed under arrest.” The 39-year-old was charged with robbery, assaulting a police officer and breaching a probation order.
