Guelph Police have arrested a man after open alcohol containers were found inside his vehicle, following a collision with a parked vehicle. The crash happened on Mountford Drive, around 10 a.m. Thursday, and caused significant damage to both vehicles. Witnesses described the car as speeding and almost hitting a pedestrian before the collision. Officers noticed signs of impairment from the driver and observed three empty liquor bottles and an open can of beer inside the vehicle. The driver was arrested and, during a search, the officer located a quantity of suspected cocaine. Police said breath tests confirmed the man had over the legal limit of alcohol in his system. The 29-year-old Guelph man was charged with impaired driving, dangerous driving, possession of a controlled substance, and driving without insurance.
