Guelph Police are looking for tips after two businesses close to each other were broken into on Thursday. In the first incident, police were called to a business on York Road near Victoria Road South around 9 a.m. Staff had arrived and found the electricity had been shut off overnight. Police believe suspects had entered through a mechanical room and turned off the power before entering the business. Three computers as well as computer equipment had been stolen during the break-in. In the second incident, police were called to a business near the first one. The owner found the front door of the Victoria Road South establishment had been pried open overnight. Items including a cash register with a small amount of cash inside, multiple watches and a GPS device were stolen. Anyone with information on this second incident had been asked to call Const. James Nightingale at 519-824-1212, ext. 7281 or email jnightingale@guelphpolice.ca. Police did not say if either business had working security cameras nearby.
