Waterloo Region had the luck of the draw with two residents celebrating separate lottery wins. Randy Denomme from Waterloo is $1 million richer after taking the top LOTTO 6/49 prize in the Gold Ball Draw on Oct. 25. The 67-year-old retiree said he plays the lottery twice a week, but the experience of winning was unbelievable. “I’ve been speechless since I found out,” Denomme said while collecting his winnings at Toronto’s OLG Prize Centre. “My family and friends have sent me many well wishes, but it still doesn’t quite feel real!” Denomme doesn’t have plans for the money yet because he’s still in shock. He may, however, consider doing some home renovations. Bruce Whitney from Cambridge also said he had plans to renovate after winning LOTTARIO’s Nov. 1 draw. The 56-year-old matched the last six of seven ENCORE numbers in the exact order, winning $100,000. Whitney works in the manufacturing industry and said he’s been an occasional lottery player for decades. After initially thinking he only won $100, Whitney described the discovery as a blur. “I had to check [the ticket] about three times before realizing I won big,” he said. Whitney added that he’s also excited to see the Toronto Blue Jays play next year.
