Two men arrested in connection to Kitchener shooting

Two people have been arrested after a shooting at a Kitchener motel. CTV’S Spencer Turcotte reports.

Waterloo Regional Police are investigating a shooting in Kitchener.

Police received reports of gunshots around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Victoria Street North and Forfar Avenue.

CTV News spotted officers at the nearby Victoria Motel. One of the rooms was also cordoned off.

One person sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and was transported to hospital for treatment.

Police described the shooting as a targeted incident.

In an update Thursday morning, police said they observed two males fleeing the area. Both were arrested a short time later.

Police said one of the male’s was found to be in possession of a loaded handgun.

A 25-year-old Kitchener man and a 27-year-old Kitchener man have been charged with:

• Assault with a Weapon
• Aggravated Assault
• Multiple Firearms Offences

Both accused were held in custody for a bail hearing.
