The Waterloo Regional Police Service is investigating after a bullet hit a home in Wellesley Township. At 4:08 p.m. Wednesday, the Waterloo Regional Police Service said they were investigating reports of gunshots heard near the community of Wellesley. People living in the Parkview Drive and Gerber Road area were asked to take shelter in their basements and away from windows after a shot went through the window of a home. In an update at 5:38 p.m., police said they had completed an extensive search of the area, including the use of a drone, and no active threat to public safety had been identified. In another update later that evening, police confirmed a bullet had hit a home on Firella Place, but no injuries were reported. Investigators said the round may have come from a significant distance away and they don’t believe it was targeted. The investigating is ongoing. Anyone who may have been shooting in the area of Wilmot Easthope Road, Berlett’s Road, Nafzinger Road or Gerber Road, or anyone who witnesses someone shooting in that area, is asked to contact police.
