Police trying to identify person connected to attempted residential break-and-enter in Cambridge

Waterloo Regional Police are trying to identify someone in connection with an attempted residential break-and-enter in Cambridge.

Police said it happened last Friday on Gaskin Avenue.

An unknown suspect or suspects tried to enter a home equipped with an alarm and home security. Although the suspects didn’t get inside, police said the home was damaged. Nothing was reportedly stolen.

Police have released images of a masked person they are hoping to identify and speak with as part of their investigation.

Residents in the area are asked to check home security cameras in the area on Friday between 6:30 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. for anything suspicious.

Police provided tips to help prevent break-ins:

• Keep doors and windows locked, even when home
• Keep valuables out of common areas and out of plain sight
• Install audible noise alarm systems
• Secure residences with home video surveillance cameras in the front and back of the residence
• Notify neighbours when away for an extended period and arrange to have someone check on your residence
• Report any suspicious persons or vehicles to police
