A huge costume party is coming to Elora for a charitable Halloween celebration on Saturday. Sensational Elora returns with the annual Monster March. Hundreds of people are expected to come out, with most dressed in their best costumes. In an email to CTV News, the organization said over 1,200 people attended in 2024, dressed up in costumes to participate in the parade. During this year’s parade and after party celebrations, Sparrow’s Nest, a creative community organization, will be collecting non-perishable food and cash donations to go toward food insecurity in Centre Wellington. For the parade, participants can decorate wagons and strollers to walk through the streets as well as enter them in the event’s wicked wagon content. Those dressed up can also compete in costume contests. Local artist Tim Murton, who’s created the Twilight Zoo with hundreds of monster sculptures showcased in the parade and around the city year after year, will also be attending. Murton has created another 25 new creatures, ready to be featured in this year’s march. Musician and washboard player Josh Broadbent will help to lead the parade, with Fergus pipe band drummer Derek Bowers livening up the parade through the sound of music. Trombone player Mike Smith is also expected to play. The parade will finish off with a kids after party at Bissell Park for a “Mini Mash.” The event kicks off at 6 p.m in MacDonald Square.
