Kitchener driver charged after stopped vehicle spotted in the middle lane of Highway 403

A driver from Kitchener is facing impaired driving charges after multiple people called police about a vehicle stopped in the middle lane of Highway 403 in Hamilton.

The Burlington Ontario Provincial Police were called to the westbound lanes of the highway, near the Lincoln M. Alexander Parkway (“the Linc”) on Thursday around 11 p.m.

When they arrived, officers found the driver in the stopped vehicle was unresponsive and, after several attempts to wake him up, officers broke a window on the vehicle to get inside.

They said the driver was showing obvious signs of impairment and he was arrested. A breath test showed he had more than two times the legal limit of alcohol in his system.

A 23-year-old Kitchener man was charged with operation of a vehicle while impaired by alcohol or drugs and operation of a vehicle while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus.

His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
