A bowling alley in Kitchener has officially closed, despite efforts from an eager group of regulars. In a social media post on Monday, AMF Bowling Co. officially announced the closure of AMF Frederick Lanes. “We have deeply appreciated your patronage and support over the years,” the post said. Worries about the future of the bowling alley began to surface in late April when customers said some staff members told them they would soon be out of work. CTV News tried to reach out to U.S.-based Lucky Strike Entertainment, the owner of the Kitchener bowling alley, for confirmation, but did not hear back. The social media post on Monday suggested regular patrons visit Bowlero Brampton to keep the good times rolling, however some Kitchener bowlers have told CTV News that option is simply not possible. “It’s obviously untenable to go to Burlington Bowl or some other place that’s an hour away three times a week for recreation,” Mason Tikl, a regular at Frederick Lanes said at the time.
