Driver charged for fatal Kitchener crash

Waterloo Regional Police have now charged a driver involved in a collision that killed a pedestrian on June 27.

A Jeep Wrangler hit a 62-year-old woman at the intersection of Victoria Street North and Frederick Street around 4:05 p.m. that day.

She was pronounced dead in hospital.

Waterloo Regional Police said the driver of the Jeep, only identified as a 41-year-old man from Kitchener, was not hurt.

He has been charged with careless driving causing death, turn not in safety and being a novice driver with a blood alcohol concentration above zero.

A court date has been set for Sept. 16.
