Waterloo Regional Police have arrested a man from Kitchener after he was driving dangerously on Thursday. At around 11:20 p.m., an officer saw a vehicle doing donuts in a parking lot near Ottawa Street North and River Road East. The driver sped away when the officer attempted to go up to the vehicle. For safety reasons, the vehicle was not followed by police. Soon after, a crash into a hydro pole by the same vehicle was reported to police. Witnesses saw the driver running from the scene near Ottawa Street and River Road. He was also seen jumping fences to avoid being arrested. The next day, the driver turned himself in to police and was arrested without a struggle. The 21-year-old was charged with dangerous operation, flight from a peace officer, driving a motor vehicle and performing a stunt where the tire loses traction, unnecessary noise, failing to stop at a red light, careless driving, failing to remain and failing to report an accident.
