Waterloo Regional Police are asking for the public’s help as they investigate a distraction theft in Cambridge. Police told CTV News the incident was reported around noon on Saturday. In a social media post at 1:09 p.m., the Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) said the theft occurred in the area of Franklin Boulevard and Canamera Parkway. According to police, the victim was approached by an unknown vehicle and engaged by multiple occupants who attempted to speak with them. Nearby witnesses intervened, and the vehicle fled the area before officers arrived. Police said there are currently no descriptions of the vehicle or the suspects involved. They are asking anyone who witnesses the incident - including those who intervened - or who has information to contact police at 519‑570‑9777.
