The City of Waterloo has lifted its on-street parking ban, two days after declaring a snow event. The ban ended at noon on Saturday, allowing residents to resume parking on city streets. The ban was put in place Thursday morning to allow snow plows to clear roadways following heavy snowfall. City officials had initially planned to lift the ban on Friday at noon, but extended it by one day to give crews more time to complete snow removal. A significant low-pressure system brought heavy snow to the region on Thursday. Environment Canada reported up to 35 centimetres of snowfall in some areas. Cambridge, meantime, had extended its parking ban until 7 a.m. Saturday. As of 12:30 p.m., Kitchener had not extended its snow event.
