Cambridge man charged with second-degree murder and attempted murder

A man from Cambridge is facing murder charges as part of an investigation into a 2024 shooting.

Officers with the Waterloo Regional Police Service were called to the Lena Crescent and Pamela Lane area of Cambridge on Nov. 27, 2024, around 8:35 p.m., after neighbours said they heard what sounded like gunshots.

When they arrived, they found a 40-year-old Cambridge man with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another man, a 31-year-old from Cambridge, was also found inside a home with a gunshot wound. He was taken to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

On Wednesday, police arrested a 37-year-old Cambridge man as part of their investigation. He was charged with second degree murder, attempted murder and breach of probation.

Police believe it was a targeted incident, and they do not believe there will be more arrests.
