Crews were called to a Brantford home on Monday to put out a fire. Neighbours said they first noticed the flames at 49 Maitland around 7:30 a.m. A photo shared with CTV News showed fire along one side of the building and thick, grey smoke coming from the roof. The Brantford Fire Department said everyone inside the home got out safely, though some were treated for smoke inhalation by paramedics. A dog was found deceased inside the home. Officials are still determining the cause of the fire. No damage estimate has been released.
