Attempted murder charges laid in Ohsweken assault

A 31-year-old from Ohsweken is facing a long list of charges, including two counts of attempted murder, after police responded to an assault.

Six Nations Police officers rushed to a home on Bicentennial Trail at 1:12 a.m. on Saturday.

Once they arrived, investigators learned two people inside the home had been assaulted. One was able to get to a nearby neighbour and ask for help. That person had severe injuries and was taken to hospital for further medical treatment.

Before police arrived, a suspect was detained by a witness.

The 31-year-old was charged with two counts of attempted murder, aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, assault, two counts of breaching probation, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, obstructing a police officer and strangulation.
