4-year-old taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after Perth County collision

A young child is fighting for their life after a collision in Perth County.

Emergency responders were called to Perth Line 56 just outside of Topping, a community west of Wellesley, on Friday around 1:30 p.m.

Ontario Provincial Police said an unloaded commercial motor vehicle had hit a 4-year-old from Mornington Township.

The child was taken to hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries. They were then airlifted to a trauma centre for further treatment.

Perth Line 56 was closed for several hours during the initial investigation, but has since reopened.

The investigation in ongoing. Any witnesses, or anyone with footage of the incident, is urged to contact the Ontario Provincial Police.
