30-year-old man dies following scooter crash in Waterford

A man who was thrown from a scooter in Brant County has died from his injuries.

Ontario Provincial Police said it happened along the Waterford Heritage Trail, near College Street West and Robinson Road, just before 9:30 p.m. Friday.

The 30-year-old crashed the two-wheeled scooter and suffered serious, life-threatening injuries.

“I’m really sad to say that a 30-year-old from Brant County was pronounced deceased,” Sgt. Ed Sanchuk shared in a social media post on Saturday morning. “My condolences to everyone who has been affected by this.”

He also said a passerby stopped to help the injured man at the scene.

“I’d also like to thank the Good Samaritan who stopped to provide assistance,” Sanchuk continued. “You made a very difficult situation just a little bit easier for those involved, so thank you on behalf of the OPP.”

OPP said they continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
