Wild weather: Baseball-sized hail, flooding and tornadoes

CTV Edmonton's Josh Classen recaps a week of wild weather: deadly flooding in Bali, two tornadoes in Australia, and baseball-sized hail in Beijing.

Bali floods

Bali suffered it’s worst flooding in more than a decade and at least 17 people have been confirmed dead.

Heavy rain triggered widespread flooding and landslides on the Indonesian island.

More than 38 centimetres of rain fell in 24 hours, forcing the evacuation of hundreds of people.

The floods also submerged roads and damaged a number of bridges.

Thunder, hail in Beijing

Severe thunderstorms pounded Beijing, bringing heavy rain and large hail.

Hail stones the size of golf balls and even as large as baseballs, were reported in some spots.

The downpours also led to some localized flooding.

Tornadoes spotted in Australia

A pair of tornados were spotted in New South Wales, Australia.

The powerful thunderstorms also brought torrential downpours.

Sydney recorded over 12 centimetres of rain in a 24-hour period. That sets a new record, becoming the city’s wettest September day.

Other areas had more than double their average monthly rainfall in just one day.
