An elderly woman is in critical condition after a high-speed crash in Ottawa’s south end on Saturday evening. Ottawa Paramedic Service spokesperson Neil Martin tells CTV News that several emergency crews responded to the intersection of Barnsdale Road and Trail Road near Highway 416 at approximately 6:12 p.m. Seven people were involved in the collision, described as a “high-speed” two-vehicle crash. A total of four people were assessed and treated at the scene. Three were transported by ambulance to hospital, according to Martin. A woman in her 70s suffered “multi-systems trauma” and was taken to the trauma centre in critical, life-threatening condition. A woman in her 30s was also transported to the trauma centre in serious but stable condition. A teenage girl was transported to CHEO in stable condition with minor injuries. A fourth woman was treated at the scene but was not taken to hospital. Ottawa police would like to speak with anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have dashcam footage.
