Edmonton should hit double digits for the first time this month, but there’s a cool down coming for Sunday. Forecast highs of 13 C today and 11 C Saturday will be followed up by a high of 5 C on Sunday. The stop-and-start warming trend starts again Monday/Tuesday as warmer air moves back in. However, the long-range outlook indicates another cool down for Wednesday through Friday of next week. There’s a chance of precipitation each time we warm up and then get a blast of cooler air. And this weekend is no different. It doesn’t look like we’ll get any significant snow in the Edmonton region. But, we’ll probably see some mixed precipitation Saturday night and some flurries early Sunday morning. Heavier snow IS likely for parts of northern Alberta, especially areas just north of Peace River east toward Fort McMurray. Most of that zone will get 5 to 10 cm of snow Saturday, but some spots could get closer to 15 cm. For the Edmonton region, we’ll keep an eye on the NEXT cool down (Tuesday night/Wednesday). It’s a ways off (and the pattern could certainly change between now and then), but there may be a snowstorm that hits central and/or north-central Alberta Wednesday of next week.
