The Valley of the Five Lakes trail in Jasper National Park will reopen this week for the first time since the wildfire in July 2024. From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 23, Parks Canada staff and Friends of Jasper volunteers will be hosting engagement stations along the trail on sustainable trail design and rebuilding, wildlife and wetland ecosystems, preventing the spread of invasive species, and wildlife ecology and landscape recovery. Visitors are welcome to stop at the stations and take part in activities or explore the trail at their own pace. The trail is family friendly, and the first section is suitable for all-terrain strollers. No registration is required, but visitors are encouraged to bring water and suitable footwear and clothing.
