Toronto squad wins annual Brick novice hockey tourney

Toronto Pro Hockey defeated the B.C. Junior Canucks 2-1 in overtime at the Ice Palace in West Edmonton Mall.

Toronto Pro Hockey beat the B.C. Junior Canucks 2-1 on Sunday afternoon at West Edmonton Mall to win the annual The Brick Invitational Hockey Tournament.

The Canucks advanced to Sunday’s final after beating the Detroit Jr. Red Wings 4-2 the day before in one semifinal while Toronto made it by defeating Team Minnesota 5-1 in the other semi.

The mall’s Ice Palace has been hosting the tournament for nine- and 10-year-old hockey players since 1990. Fourteen select teams from across North America participated in this year’s tourney.
