Rail-crossing work to close avenue next to northeast LRT station for a week

The avenue that runs in front of a northeast Edmonton LRT station is scheduled to be closed for a week starting at the end of February.

The City of Edmonton said in a media release Friday that 129 Avenue will be closed in both directions between Fort Road and 58 Street for work to replace train crossing arms, widen sidewalks and install new pedestrian gates.

The east-west corridor runs immediately south of Belvedere station.

Crews will also reduce 129 Avenue to one lane in each direction from Tuesday to next Friday for some of the work.

The work will affect transit bus route 108.

The city said the impact of the work on LRT service will be minimal.

The rail crossing is slated to reopen on March 8.
