Police seek SUV that knocked man from wheelchair in northside hit-and-run

Edmonton police released surveillance video of a driver they say hit two men, one of whom was in a wheelchair, and left the scene.

Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is looking to identify the driver of a car who they say struck two pedestrians, one of whom was knocked from a wheelchair, and drove away.

On Oct. 25 around 8 p.m., two men were crossing 123 Street at the north curb of 127 Avenue when a red four-door SUV turned left onto the street and hit them both. Police say they confirmed the report with CCTV footage, which they gave to the public in a Friday news release.

One of the men, a 31-year-old in a wheelchair, was knocked to the ground and suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Police didn’t say whether the other man, who was walking alongside the 31-year-old, was injured.

The driver of the SUV did stop and speak with both men before going back to the vehicle and driving away, police said. The SUV was last seen going east on 127 Avenue.
