A wildfire alert issued for a community near Edmonton this week has been lifted. Alberta Wildfire issued an alert for Parkland County due to a fire near Range Road 10 and Beau Rand Estates Sunday afternoon. As of 11 a.m. Tuesday, that wildfire is now listed as contained and the alert was lifted. A small area of Leduc County was also included in that alert in social media posts from the municipality, but was later announced to be an error. Albertans from Range Roads 11 to 281 and from the river north to Township Road 505 were warned to be prepared to leave at a moment’s notice as crews worked to contain the wildfire. No evacuation order for Parkland County was ever given. Alberta Wildfire still recommends staying prepared for the chance of wildfires as the season continues. Wildfire alerts, when issued, will be found on the Alberta Emergency Alert app or on compatible devices as emergency notifications.
