People visiting the Telus World of Science (TWOSE) can get a taste of adventure and travel through Africa’s desert in a new IMAX 3D experience. Elephants: Giants of the Desert is a 40 minute documentary opening Sept. 27. “With stunning aerial footage and immersive sound, it delivers both a cinematic spectacle and a rare look into the delicate balance of life in one of Earth’s oldest deserts,” a news release from TWOSE said Tuesday. The film follows a newborn elephant named Little Foot who is navigating her first year of life in the desert with her mother and herd. There are less than 150 desert elephants left in Namibia compared to thousands in past centuries, TWOSE said. “The film brings together breathtaking cinematography and compelling science, highlighting how these animals adapt to extreme conditions and what that means for our understanding of resilience in nature,” TWOSE president and CEO Constance Scarlett said. The IMAX documentary is narrated by actress Naomi Watts. People can buy tickets online and save money if they purchase before Sept. 30.
