Edmonton police have issued Canada-wide warrants for the arrest of Scot MacDermid, a 42-year-old man who has been unreachable with his two young children since the end of August. MacDermid and his children, nine-year-old Lesley and six-year-old George, were first reported missing on Aug. 28. Police asked for the public’s help locating them on Sept. 8 and later learned the three were last seen with an unknown man in Lloydminster the same day they disappeared. That unknown man has since been found and investigators have spoken with him. Canada-wide warrants were issued for MacDermid on Sept. 23 in relation to two counts of abduction in contravention of a custody order. Investigators say they won’t issue an Amber Alert based on what they know so far. “An Amber Alert is one tool available to police, but it is not the investigation itself. Finding Lesley and George remains our top priority,” Staff Sgt. Robert Davis, with Edmonton’s child protection unit, said in a news release. Anyone with information about the whereabouts of MacDermid, George or Lesley is asked to call Edmonton police at 780-423-4567.
