Hundreds of homes in Edmonton were without power Sunday as high winds blew across much of Alberta. As of 5 p.m., 1,650 homes were impacted, said EPCOR. “High winds across Edmonton are resulting in trees coming down and affecting power lines,” said a statement from the utilities provider. “EPCOR has mobilized extra crews to help with the response. At 1 p.m., EPCOR reported that 8,400 homes were without power. People are advised to stay 10 metres away from downed powerlines and call 911 or EPCOR at 780-412-4500. Environment Canada issued wind warnings for most areas from the Alberta-U. S. border up to Fort McMurray with wind speeds between 90 and 110 km/h. Conditions are anticipated to ease Sunday evening.
