Fire destroys home under construction in Belgravia

An overnight fire destroyed a house under construction in Belgravia, the incident has some neighbours feeling uneasy. CTV News Edmonton's Marek Tkach reports.

A home under construction in south-central Edmonton was destroyed by fire overnight Monday.

Firefighters said Monday morning the fire at 11618 77 Ave. NW is under control.

A fire crew was called to the scene at 11:21 p.m. Sunday in the Belgravia neighbourhood, where the back of the structure was on fire, Edmonton Fire Rescue Services told CTV News Edmonton.

Additional crews were subsequently called as neighbouring homes were at risk, the fire department said, adding that the blaze was brought under control a little more than an hour later and that no one was injured.

CTV News Edmonton observed damage to homes on either side of the destroyed structure.
