Edson’s main post office moves to temporary location after water leak

Edson’s main post office is relocating temporarily while its regular location undergoes repair work from a water leak.

The downtown post office facility at 422 50 St. has been closed since Jan. 29 after the leak occurred overnight.

Canada Post said in a media release Monday that they have moved the retail and mail processing centre to a location four blocks away, 5029/5031 1 Ave., as the downtown facility needs more repair than first believed.

Mail delivery also resumed on Monday, Canada Post said. It had been put on hold in the town of 8,700 since the post office closed.

Mail carriers for the town and surrounding area served by the post office will receive their most recent mail first while they work to catch up on the backlog caused by the shutdown. Mail was being held at a processing facility in Edmonton.

Retail services will resume at the new location next Monday, Feb. 23.

People needing retail service can access it and all other postal services at the post office in the Edson Convenience Store at 5609 13 Ave.
