An Edmonton woman is dreaming of sunny beaches after winning $1 million on a Lotto Max ticket from last month. Linda Ostopchuk says she buys a Super Pack every few weeks and doesn’t always check the tickets right away. “I went to the store to go check several tickets, and sure enough, the last ticket in the bunch was a winner!” Ostopchuk said in a news release. “I couldn’t believe it. I cried outside afterwards.” She says she still can’t believe her luck. “I’m going to the bank to talk to a financial advisor, and then I’m taking a trip to Mexico!” she said. “After that, I’ll take it step by step.” Ostopchuk bought the winning ticket from Paula’s Lottery in Northgate Mall. The winning numbers were 1, 5, 10, 26, 30, 41, and 42 from the Dec. 9 draw. A Fort McMurray man is also celebrating after winning $1 million on the Dec. 30 Lotto Max draw. Roland Landry bought his ticket on the Play Alberta website. He said he had a hard time keeping his composure when he realized he was a winner. “It was kind of pure disbelief,” he said in a news release. ”I asked one of my coworkers if I was reading it right because I was so freaked out, and then he kind of lost his mind and jumped up and down.” Landry plans to buy a new snowmobile but hasn’t made concrete plans for the rest of the money.
