Edmonton puzzle store inviting volunteers to put the pieces together for charity

An Edmonton puzzle store is inviting volunteers to come to their shop and put the pieces together for charity.

The Puzzle Shop, located in the city’s south side, is holding its second Puzzle Bee for Charity event this weekend.

Volunteers are asked to work on donated puzzles – putting all the pieces together to make sure there are no missing ones – before the boxes are resealed and sent off to various organizations around Edmonton.

“There’s nothing more frustrating than having a missing piece,” Linda Moon, one of the store’s owners, told CTV News Edmonton on Friday.

Moon said they try to pass along the donated puzzles to organizations that the staff have a personal connection with like senior housings, the Edmonton Public Library, Elizabeth Fry Society and the Youth Emergency Shelter.

“It’s just a win-win with people wanting to donate the puzzles to good places,” she said.

The Puzzle Shop first opened in the city last November. This is the second Puzzle Bee for Charity event that they have hosted, with the first one in June being a success.

“We receive donated puzzles all the time, and then we’ll stock them up so that when we do the Puzzle Bee again,” Moon said, adding she hopes to have three events a year.

Those that donate a puzzle, or spend time working on one, will receive a coupon from Cobble Hill Puzzles, who they have partnered with for the event. Donated puzzles should be gently used 200 to 1,000 piece puzzles.

The charity drive runs Friday to Sunday.
