The Edmonton Public Library (EPL) has created an event that appeals to anyone who’s ever wanted to solve a haunted mystery in a real library. Stanley A. Milner library will host Locked Library: Ghost Stories on Oct. 24. Participants get exclusive access to the library after hours, where they will become paranormal investigators. EPL fund development manager Ryan Drury says it’s a chance to get into the Halloween spirit – although the escape room event is not new to the organization’s fundraising efforts. The last one they ran in July, Drury says, completely sold out and raised nearly $20,000 for the library’s programs. “Instead of attending a traditional fundraiser, they’re stepping into the adventure story themselves. We’re thrilled to offer more accessible fundraising events to Edmonton,” he said. Tickets went on sale Wednesday and were 25-per-cent sold by the afternoon. Attendees are capped at 650 people.
