City councillors unanimously passed a motion to approve the sale of 1202 Retallack Street during Wednesday’s council meeting. Ward 1 Coun. Dan Rashovich proposed tabling the motion until Oct.14, saying more information on the motion’s business plan is needed, but he was voted down by a count of seven to three. The sale will see the empty lot at 1202 Retallack become the property of Growing Young Movers Youth Development Inc. at a cost of $1, for development of its Building Futures Collective Hub. The motion passed unanimously by a vote of nine to zero, with councillors Mancinelli and Froh absent from the meeting. The conditions outlined in the sale also include a one-time grant of $300,000 from the city’s Housing Accelerator Fund, to help develop the hub facility. The property will also receive a five-year tax exemption upon transfer of ownership to Growing Young Movers, subject to the provincial government approving the exemption or partial exemption of the education portion of the property tax levy if required. In August, executive committee unanimously approved transferring the property from the Saskatchewan Housing Corporation to the city for a nominal cost of $1 to support building the hub, with the final approval brought to city council on Wednesday
