Coke drum delivery to Lloydminster to cause traffic disruptions in eastern Alberta

Two large loads are moving through eastern Alberta next week and could cause delays.

Each coke drum shell – which is used to upgrade heavy crude into products like fuel – is 7.4 metres wide, nine metres tall, and 52 metres long, and weighs 222,600 kilograms.

They will take up the entire width of the highway for the trip from Dacro in Tofield to Lloydminster on Monday and Thursday.

They will be travelling at a maximum speed of 60 km/h and will be accompanied by guide vehicles.

This is the route they will take on their travel days:

• Exit from 6204 46 Avenue, Tofield
• Airport Road eastbound
• 46 Avenue southbound
• Highway 14 eastbound
• Highway 36 northbound
• Highway 16 eastbound
• Range Road 14 southbound
• Township Road 494 eastbound
• Upgrader Road northbound
• East into site (Husky) (2 p.m.)
