Avoid unnecessary travel in Lloydminster area: RCMP

Kitscoty, Alberta.

Mounties warned of poor driving conditions in eastern Alberta Tuesday morning.

The conditions resulted in at least two multi-vehicle crashes and “major slowdowns” on Highway 16 near Kitscoty.

In one, near the Range Road 40A intersection, a tanker truck, semi truck, and multiple civilian vehicles were involved.

No other details about either crash were available.

Mounties said the road was clear of emergency vehicles at 2:40 p.m.

RCMP advised commuters to avoid unnecessary travel, or drive slowly if necessary.

According to 511 Alberta, the highway was partially covered in snow or ice from Innisfree to Lloydminster, as were roads north and south of the major highway.

Kitscoty is located about 25 kilometres west of Lloydminster.
