Alberta RCMP officer pleads guilty to assault

A Leduc RCMP officer has pleaded guilty to assault.

Const. Bridget Morla was initially charged with sexual assault in December 2024 in connection with incidents that happened at an Airdrie hotel room on Dec. 3, 2022.

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) was directed to investigate the assaults 10 days later, ultimately leading to the charges against Morla.

The 40-year-old entered a guilty plea in a Calgary courtroom on Tuesday.

A sentencing date has been set for Sept. 4.

ASIRT is tasked with investigating any incidents involving Alberta police officers that include injury, death, or allegations of misconduct.
