Two men are facing charges after a gun was found during a New Year’s Day traffic stop. Mounties stopped a Hyundai Tucson in Beaumont and located an untapped/unstamped tobacco product, according to a news release. The occupants of the vehicle were arrested, and police found a shotgun in the trunk along with magazines containing ammunition. A 24-year-old Edmonton man has been charged with two counts of possession of a firearm contrary to a court order, three firearm offences, and failing to comply with a release order. The man remains in custody and will appear in court in Leduc on Thursday. A 33-year-old man of no fixed address is facing three firearms related charges. He has been released and is set to appear in court in Edmonton on Jan. 23.
