A 40-year-old man who was the subject of a Canada-wide warrant after leaving a Victoria parole facility without authorization has been arrested. Victoria police said Christopher Hinton was arrested Monday afternoon. Police had been asking for the public’s help locating Hinton after he fled a parole facility in Victoria without authorization on Aug. 21. At the time, police described Hinton as 6’1” and about 192 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. They cautioned members of the public not to approach him if he was spotted. Police said Hinton had a prison sentence of five years, five months and 11 days. His convictions included flight from police while operating a motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, operating while prohibited, using an imitation firearm while committing an offence and assaulting a peace officer.
