Wranglers wrap up October with shootout victory over Canucks in Abbotsford

The Wranglers and Abbotsford faced off Wednesday night in B.C., with the Wranglers winning 2-1 in a shootout.

The Calgary Wranglers ended a two-game road trip to B.C. on a winning note, defeating the Abbotsford Canucks 2-1 in a Wednesday night shootout.

Rookie Matvei Gridin scored in the shootout to give the Wranglers the victory.

The win gave the Wranglers a sweep of their two-game set in Abbotsford, after they scored three third-period goals Tuesday night to snap a scoreless tie and give them a 3-0 victory.

Sawyer Mynio scored in the first period Wednesday to give Abbotsord a one-goal lead, which held up until the third, when Daniil Miromanov tied it up, setting the stage for Gridin’s shootout winner.

Tuesday night, the club got third-period goals from Yan Kuznetsov, Aydar Suniev and Rory Kerins.

Next up for the Wranglers is a weekend series at the Saddledome, where they will take on the Bakersfield Condors.

Saturday night is Indigenous Celebration Night.
